![]() ![]() He was born in the heat of summer with a head full of black hair and the name that Jack wanted. Six years later, Marna and Shane welcomed another brother, Dallas Alton. Three and a half years later, in the dead of winter, the one who was supposed to be the New Year’s baby, was born on January 23 – Shane Jason. In August of 1964, after playing a mean game of croquet in the basement at the farm with Mickey, she gave birth to the first of three children, Marna Lee. After a trip to Nashville, they settled in with Jack’s parents on the farm near Halma. Jack and Loretta got engaged and were married on November 30, 1963, in Lake Bronson. Loretta tried to move to Minneapolis, but he convinced her to come home to him. He worked as a farm laborer for next few years, waiting for the right girl to come along. In the fall he tried NDSU for a quarter, but decided that it wasn’t for him. In his high school years, he made some lifelong friends – Francis Anderson and Daryl Rice. He graduated from Karlstad High School in 1958. His dad was a farmer and his mom was a school teacher. Jack grew up in Kennedy and Halma, along with his younger brother, Mickey. News of his birth garnered an article in the paper – a baby who had 10 living grandparents, including some in Sweden and Norway. He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Walseth aunt, Jane O’Gorman uncle, Vernon and niece, Autumn Walseth.Jack Ivar Bothum was born on Decemin Greenbush, Minn., the oldest son of Myles and Judith (Petterson) Bothum. Survivors include his children, Chase (Serenity Tollefson) Nomeland of Thief River Falls, Kayla (Wyatt Olson) Walseth of Goodridge and Trinity Walseth of Goodridge grandchildren, Connor Fayette & Harper Walseth mother, Hollie Walseth of Thief River Falls siblings, Callie (Keith) Melvie of Thief River Falls, Gene Parks of Wavel, KS, Jared (Melissa) Davidson of Lakeville, MN, Chris Walseth of Thief River Falls girlfriend, Berdine Swanson of Lake Bronson, MN and many other relatives and friends. He was very intelligent and great at math. In his kindergarten class, Vernon was the only one that could read. ![]() Vernon loved to read mostly Stephen King novels, enjoyed camping, spending time with family and friends, was in Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts, played baseball in the youth leagues and wrestled at Lincoln High School. Vernon was good with his hands and had a big heart. His last job was remodeling the Frog Pond in Halma, MN where he was also the cook. Vernon also worked at Northwestern Trailer Sales in Thief River Falls, and just last year ran a computer for a furniture manufacturing company in Vesta, MN. He mainly did construction work throughout his life. He attended Northland Technical College in Thief River Falls for one year and then began working for Walseth Construction. Vernon attended Washington Elementary, Franklin Middle and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls and graduated from high school in Bemidji, MN in 1993. ![]() He was baptized at Silverton Lutheran Church rural Thief River Falls, MN. Vernon Lee Walseth was born on Januin Corpus Christi, TX the son of Lee and Hollie (Baker) Walseth. Burial will follow at Community Cemetery in St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
